About the event

Positive Charge! PDX's Compassion Through Literature initiative is thrilled to add 15 new little free libraries to our network of diverse book-sharing boxes in the Portland Metro area—from Gresham to Newberg. As the PC! PDX CTL webpage highlights, the mission of PC! PDX's Compassion Through Literature is to use diverse books as a way to build understanding, empathy, and inclusion for a more compassionate, equitable world.

In addition to dedicating the new little free libraries, during this event you'll have the privilege of experiencing a "Human Library." This special offering will feature our neighbors sharing their life stories. We'll also take the opportunity to thank our ahhhmaaaaazing community partners who handcrafted or provided supplies for the little free libraries. The project could not have happened without their generosity!

As an added bonus, the event will conclude with a DIVERSE BOOK SWAP. Scour your book shelves at home for books by or about people of different ages, races, religions, physical and mental disabilities, gender identities and family structures, financial statuses, cultures, traditions, countries of origin, and more. We'll have on hand lots of similar books to trade you!

Kids are welcomed and encouraged to attend! Our venue, Leikam Brewing, is a certified kosher, community-centric, and family-operated  brewery. They partner with two local food establishments:

  • Onsite is a food cart operated by Wicked Garden Alchemy, which provides comfort vegan food. With a special kids menu and gluten-free options, they have something to satisfy everyone.

  • Oly’s Pizza, located just a few blocks away, will deliver to Leikam and has pizzas, salads, hummus plates and garlic strips for dipping.

  • Guests are also welcome to bring their own food if they have dietary needs.

We hope you'll join us for this "big deal" event as we strive to bring awareness to the power of taking action to make the world a better place for ALL!

Space is limited, so please register ASAP.
